Hi Rick

Not sure about an A5000 driver (probably meant A500)
You`ll more than likely find your driver disks at one or more of the following websites:

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

If still no luck, post back with further details of your card.

Excuse the second post.
You`re correct on your description.

Solid State Leisure A5000-16 68020 Accelerator card.

I`ve had a look on those sites and google, and found no install disks so far...is there actually one needed?

[...]

I had one of those. The speed boost was impressive, but they were not
mechanically strong and tended to break easily, such as in the post to you,
or when you breathed on the A500.

The device itself is a dumb non-Autoconfig board providing a 68020 with
locally-attached 32 bit memory and Kickstart shadowing. Thus, the memory is
not visible at boot.

The provided tool adds the board's memory to the system and can enable
Kickstart shadowing to speed that up. Up until the machine has run that
command, everything (e.g. ExecBase) will end up in Chip RAM.

A quick bit of reverse-engineering of their tool revealed that one could
easily load an alternative Kickstart image. I created a tool that would use
any Kickstart, and also change its idea of where the trapdoor memory resided
to be where the 32 bit RAM was. Hey presto, the system boots up without need
of a driver and everything runs as fast as it can.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where my original copy of the disk is, nor my
little tool.

"The memory is *not* autoconfig; you must run an AllocMem program in your
Startup-Sequence, which searches for 32-bit memory, and adds any found to
the system's memory list."

Just somethin` I found on google.

Something likw addmem should work too.

I think some software is required to:-

1, activate the 020 ?
2, to map the kickstart to ram
3, to enable the amiga to see the 32bit ram which is on the accellerator
4, to change back to 68000 fallback mode ?

Im not sure but looking on the web this is what I gather the software does
at the moment with no software sysinfo only see it as a standared a500 and
shows speeds accordanly it dosne't detect the 020

any ideas

thanks ~Richard~

I`ll have a bit of a search, for perhaps a manual at least..this would either comfirm/deny the requirement of a `driver`.

No manual that I could find; just copies of that review at various websites.
You might try checking that the 020 is seated correctly (if it`s socketed.)
And to meet those other requirements, use addmem (or similar) to add the ram,..mkick (or skick...min kick2.0x) to softkick
alternative roms.

There's an A5000 owner on English Amiga Board called BinoX, ask him
about the driver. See it installed in his CDTV:
