Hi Jon,

"If you don't find it, look for HOSTS in the Windows directory.", Spiro
wrote. I would add, "If you don't find that either, create a new file".

Yes, that's a feature, not a bug. No, the site has not had a hard disk
crash. This is how virtual domains work... :-) Bye,

Joe

No. Just create a file (not a directory) names 'HOSTS'

The name of the file is 'HOSTS' with no extension. I think the lack
of an extension in the file name is what is confusiong you.

I know in earlier versions of Windows, there is a file called
'HOSTS.SAM' with sample entries. (I'm not sure about Win 2000 ans XP).
If your Windows has this file, simply add the line

152.66.213.186 sta.c64.org

to the end of the file, and rename it to 'HOSTS'

Hello Jonathan,

Sorry for being so unspecific in the first place, but I had no Win9x
system nearby, so I could not tell definitely where the file was located.

I just tested on my very old install of Win98. Yes, Jack is right. On
Win98, you find a C:\Windows\hosts.sam file (if you installed Windows in
C:\Windows, which is default. If you installed it elsewhere, replace
that part). Just copy that file to a HOSTS file in the same directory
(no extension, please!), and add the mentioned entry at the end of it.

HTH,
Spiro.
