hen I was fixing the broken compatibility a few days ago, I placed the
UserControl on a Frame and not on my Form. The purpose of the frame was to
act like a pseudoform which acts like a Splash Screen to comfort users
during lengthy operations (and which displays a textual progress log of the
operation in process). This pseudoform is hidden by default.
Thus, my UserControl was hidden as well.
In the process of debugging this debacle, I learned many things. For
example, there is no substitute for reviewing the FRM and VBP files in
notepad as a part of the QA Process. And the use of WinMerge can greatly
amplify the value of this special step.
I want to thank my on-line companion for following me through this process
and helping me with many suggestion and pointing me to important tools.
Tonight I am thanking God that there was "Someone" out there!
Cheers to the newsgroup,
