(Doom3) Is there a genious in the house?

Hi there!

I have this thing against cross hairs in games. I dont like them, boooo and
hisss etc. Well, I was wondering if there was any way to make it invisible?
Does any clever type know the console commands do render it invisible? I
dont know if anyone here has the technical know how. I suspect not but no
harm in asking!

Im aware that it would make it hard to use the computer terminals in the
game but I could always bind it to a key or something.

Thanks!

a quick google shows a mod for making your own cross-hair . I suppose
you might be able to make either an empty one or a single dark pixel -
try it and let us know.

Put this line in your autoexec.cfg file in the doom3/base directory:

seta g_showHud "0"

Turns off the HUD completely, and I much prefer this for doom3. It
increases the immersion, which is what this game is all about. The
crosshairs and so on are just distractions, and the uncertainly of having to
learn how to aim and count bullets adds to the tension!

Except that in real life the Doom marine would be using iron sights, which
are what crosshairs simulate (in an old-fashioned, arcade-style fashion).

Or in real life, the Marine would have holographic contact lenses with a
targeting reticle linked to his weapons, so that crosshairs would appear in
his field of vision, showing him where his rounds would hit.

Thus the crosshairs would simulate... crosshairs.
