Nothing at http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Fascinating stuff. Anyone else got any URL's that aren't interesting?

Now would be a good time to mention my site. But I won't.

Before your post, I had never been to it. I totally loved Doom 1 & 2,
but from what I have seen of Doom 3, it leaves me totally cold. They
seem to have forgotten what made Doom work and turned it into Resident
Evil (which I don't like) instead. Of all the next gen games on the
horizon, D3 is firmly at the bottom of my wish list.

Hello,

I would appreciate some help.
I'm Playing the new Doom 3, and am not sure what settings to use for
best graphics/frame rate.

Specs:
P4 @ 2.8GHz w/HT & 800MHz FSB / 512kb L2 Cache
512MB DDR-RAM
256MB ATI 9800XT
Catalyst 4.9 Beta w/ Overdrive
17' Digital LCD Monitor

Also, my card was at 73 degrees after 20 mins of playing Doom. Is
this too hot? Hot enough to call for some help?

Thanks,
IK001

I'd say that's okay, but you don't want it much hotter.

You might see some improvement by getting another half-gig of RAM.

If you manually edit the config file and change the anistropic
filtering to 0 from 8, you should see a nice improvent in framerate.

I'm playing at 1280x1024 on a rig quite similar to yours, except I
have a 3Ghz CPU, 128Mb 9800 Pro and 1 Gb of RAM, and it's quite
smooth.

it's not all that great. i guess with all the hype my expectations
skyrocketed.
it's dark most of the time. it's a small cramped environment. doom runs
mediorce on my machine. there's not much variation of the game, it's pretty
much the same feel throughout. farcry for me had a better overall
experience. when i first played doom on the console system , when it came
out years and years ago i had a hell of a good time playing it.
