Access 97 Export Query to Excel

Post by QmFyY » Tue, 18 Jan 2005 00:47:02

I frequently export queries to Excel, but recently I have lost the ability to
do this. In the past, I would go to File, Save As/Export, To an External
File or Database, Save As Type and then select Excel 97 from the drop down
list. Now, Excel no longer appears as an option in the drop down list. I
tried to remedy this by going to Set Up, Add/Remove, Data Access and
intalling all options. This did not work. I am confused as to why suddenly I
have lost this capability and what I should do to restore it.

Take a look for the file msexcl35.dll on your hard drive (it should be in
your System folder) and use regsvr32.exe to reregister it.

Yes there is the mxexc135.dll in my systems folder and the regsvr32.exe
appears in both my systems folder and windows\options\cabs\pws folder, but
can you please be more explicit as to what I do to this file to reregister
it? When I double click on it I get a "no dll name specified" message.

Thank you.

The easiest way is go to Start | Run. Type
regsvr32.exe msexcl35.dll
and hit enter.

Note that it's m-s-e-x-c-el-3-5.dll, not m-s-e-x-c-one-3-5.dll
