Can't boot anything!!! I get three long beeps.
I just ordered an Intel 865PERL mobo, and a processor to go with it.
- Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz processor
- Bus Speed - 800 MHz
- Cache Memory - L2 Advanced Transfer Cache - 512 KB
- Socket 478
- Manufacturer Warranty - 3 years warranty
New everything, MX440 video card, Memory - 512 MB x 1 - DIMM 184-pin -
DDR SDRAM - 166 MHz / DDR333/PC2700 - 2.5 V - ECC
I first bought one stick of 512 ram, got three beeps, no video. I
didn't have any other DDR ram around, so I assumed it was because I
needed two sticks (matched pair). I went out and bought another 512
stick that matched. Put them both in space 0 of each channel like it
says. Same problem. Hrmmm. Could it be the video card? Pulled it
out, didn't have any others to test with, same three longs beeps
without the video card in the unit.
Pulled all RAM chips, same long three beeps (I know this isn't telling
me much, but I was reaching for something to be different, a different
beep or some sign of something else, but didn't.
I checked the CPU that all pins are okay, looks fine.
I'm stumped. Whats can be wrong with this? The mobo or the CPU???
I've never had a dead CPU before.
Can someone please advise? In no case do I get ANY video.
