In anticipation of receiving Panther
on its day of release I backed-up
my data and ran Disk Utility to repair
the disc and permissions (nothing
major wrong). When I inserted the
first Panther disc the drive spit it out.
I tried twice more and on the third effort
the disc wouldn't go in beyond half way.
Talk about bad timing!
I have AppleCare Protection Plan.
After contacting Apple sent TiBook to
Texas and had it returned within 48
hours (I'm in *** ia). The "Proof of
Repair" letter enclosed lists the following:
678-0384 COMBO DRIVE
632-0163 COMBO DRIVE CABLE
After booting I immediately discovered
discs would not go in the slot the last
1/2". I'm also am hearing odd electronic
noises upon inserting and removing a disc.
Apple has given the go ahead to return the
PB and assured me they will get it fixed
Does anyone have a clue as to what's going
on and why the first repair efforts failed?
