Adding wireless ibook to linux network and printing

Hi,

I am about to buy an ibook (first mac) and am wondering about using it
with my existing linux computers and a HP 2410 printer/scanner/fax. The
2410 is attached (usb) to a computer running linux and set up in cups. It
is not a "network/ethernet" printer. If I get a wireless router and
network the computers I guess if I have cups broadcast from the linux box
than the ibook should be able to be configured to see and use the printer.
Is that correct? More impotently, If I install the mac software that HP
provides, will I be able to use it in the ibook even though it is not
physically attached to the printer? The hp software has much better photo
printing options than is currently available in linux--much less hoops to
jump through. I currently have the hpijs software running on the linux box.

Thanks,

Chris

Basically, yes. At least, you should be able to print from the iBook.
I don't think you can access the other functions directly, but you
can always export your X server's display to your iBook ("ssh
user@host -X myprogram"; provided your sshd_config is set up
"X11Forwarding yes"), and work on the Linux box from your iBook.

Should be possible, though I haven't tried it myself. Set up a Raw
(Passthru Postscript) printer on the linux box, and connect to it
using IPP (or LPD, if set up). On the iBook, set up a HP 2410. Use
Page setup to format for not Any Printer, but HP 2410. Print with
"output formatted for HP 2410" on the iBook to the raw printer at the
Linux box.
