I'm seeing some pretty gnarly crashes with CodeWarrior 9.x on the
latest Tiger seeds and was wondering if anybody has any insight. We've
got a build script that invokes CW via AppleScript to build roughly 150
or so different projects and targets. It works great with Panther or
Jaguar, but these tiger seeds are causing CW to hang.
With a fresh install of Tiger, the script runs CW as expected: for each
project and target, launching CW, opening the project, selecting the
appropriate target, building, saving logs, etc. On subsequent runs,
however, CW hangs seemingly randomly: after launching, opening a
project, selecting a target and beginning the build, CW will hang and
become unresponsive while compiling a random file in the project. It
doesn't exercise the CPU while it's in this state, and after Force
Quitting or Killing the process, the process dies but CW remains in the
dock and the Finder won't return. The only way to get out of this
state is to do a hard reboot.
I've tried this on two different machines, a dual 450 and a 733, both
with plenty of RAM, and with both CW 9.3 and 9.4. I know these are old
machines, which may be part of the problem, and we've got a G5 on
order. That's my next dead chicken to wave at this thing.
Has anybody else seen this? Any ideas? Or does this just sound like a
beta OS and i'm s.o.l. until Apple and MW officially support tiger?
