Hard disk for iMac - one more question

Post by William A. » Sat, 14 Jun 2008 09:43:38

One additional question to follow up on the valuable previous advice.
The iMac originally has a 250GB internal drive. If I am replacing it,
can I increase the capacity of this disk, since I seem to have read some
accounts of heat problems arising form the larger disks? I am looking at
the Seagate Barracuda, which can go up to 1TB, and the specs indicate
that the operating temps and power management requirements are the same
for this disk in 500GB, 750GB, or 1TB size.

Any further advice, or suggestions of alternate drives, would be
welcomed.

Just get a temp monitoring app and watch it if you change the hard
drive.

If your iMac has a FW 800 port I'd just attach an external HD. Even FW
400 or USB 2 will do if it's not storing files you need to access ASAP.
