Reset program and Hotsync (run) shortcut program

Post by news » Fri, 14 May 2004 07:53:43

Looking for a program (not Java) that will allow me to reset the Palm
(OS5) without using the reset-hole in the back and another one that will
allow me to change the buttons so when I click the icon, HotSync starts.
I remapped a button, but then I still have to press the HS icon anyway.
Ideas/recommendations anyone?

Don't know if that is possible at all.

Well, this is not a remapping of buttons but a method I use:
1. install DA Launcher (Freeware)
2. install QuickSync DA (Freeware)
3. use DA Launcher's setup to link QuickSync to a Quickbutton
4. do a command stroke and tap on the small yellow DA icon in the
command bar.
5. voila ;-)

LauncherX. It will definitely do the first, but I haven't tried the second,
if I even understand what you want. I'm not certain what 'change the buttons
so when I click the icon' means. If you mean just press one button and
initiate a hotsync, I don't know. LauncherX will, however, let you tap one
gadget in the toolbar and initiate hotsync without another tap on the icon
that comes up when you use a silkscreen button. Actually, it's 2 taps, one
on the tools icon, which brings up a menu, then you select local hotsync. If
you just want to push one hardware button and get an immediate hotsync, I
don't know of any solution. (Not to say one doesn't exist......)

1) While the reset button and a screen icon might do same thing while the
Palm is working, what happens if screen taps don't function properly?

2) I'm not sure there's an answer to this one, at least not one that you
want to hear. <g> Is tapping 2 buttons, rather than 1, really that bad?

Although it's not a button on the Palm, the one on my cradle is
sufficient to start the hotsync.
