Palm Tungsten E vs Mac OS 10.3 "Panther"

Palm Tungsten E vs Mac OS 10.3 "Panther"

Post by me3 » Mon, 15 Dec 2003 22:49:42

I've googled and can't find a solution...

I am running Mac OS 10.3 and attempting to install the T|E specific Palm
desktop as provided on the CD. I am installing from scratch, with no
previous copy of Palm Desktop installed.

It won't install properly, but a google suggests I install as root. If I
do this, it seems to install fine, except that the only conduits
installed in

/Library/Application Support/Palm Hotsync/Conduits

are Backup Conduit, Install Conduit and Photos Conduit.

How do I install the other conduits? Can I just drop them into the
correct directory or should I attempt to install again, another way?

If I can drag-and-drop install, could anyone who has these conduit files
successfully installed (note: Tungsten E / T3 conduits only, ie
Calendar, Contacts, Memos, Note Pad and Tasks) please contact me on
XXXX@XXXXX.COM in order to send them to me? Please don't send
without confirmation first as I don't want to get flooded with loads of
copies!

1. OS X Panther 10.3 and Palm Hotsync

2. Active Directory and binding in Panther (Mac OS X 10.3)

Yes, the ".local" that can be another problem.

From the SBS 2003 Release Notes
http://www.yqcomputer.com/
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Do not use the .local domain name during Setup if you have client computers
running Macintosh OS 10.2
The Macintosh OS 10.2 operating system uses the .local extension for its
Rendezvous service. As a result, client computers running OS 10.2 will be
unable to discover other computers that are members of a Windows Small
Business Server network that uses the .local extension.

If your Windows Small Business Server network contains client computers
running Macintosh OS 10.2 or later, change the default domain name during
Setup to use a domain extension other than .local. For example, you could
use a .lan or .office extension.

For more information, visit the Apple Web site ( http://www.yqcomputer.com/ )and
search the Knowledge Base for the article "Mac OS X 10.2: About Your
Computer's Rendezvous Name."
