For some reason Microsoft decided to limit combo boxes
and list boxes which severely limits my search
functionality if it wont return more record.

I understand this to exist in Access 97 and 2000.

Does anyone know if this problem still exists in later
versions of Access?

If it doesn't then I will have to upgrade.

AFAIK it is still the same. People don't usually like scrolling through huge
lists anyway. A common method is to provide a TextBox where the user provides a
few starting characters so that the displayed list can be narrowed
significantly.
