Can't run source code from VB textbooks

by Hogue » Sat, 25 Aug 2007 16:56:59

I own several VB 2005 texts with source code downloaded from the publishers' websites. Unfortunately, about 80% of the time, I can't run the code in VB2005 Express. There are no build errors, but when I attempt to run the project in the de***, I get the following exception message: "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualBasic, Version=2.0.0.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=6315780d5082271f' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." Is there any way to overcome this problem

Sounds like VBE isn't properly installed. I'm surprised it works 20% of the time. Not good...

I have the same problem, solved it with entering a code comment and running the project again. It then seems to work. YOu don't even need to save the project. It doesn't seem to matter where the comment is inserted either. Strange but true!

Yep, sounds like a bad install.

Try repairing the installation, and if that doesnt help try uninstalling and reinstalling.

I tried entering a comment and it worked! Unbelievable! Thanks!
