Memoir ToC/Section numbering problems

I'm working with the memoir class, but I'm having some issues, which I
can't seem to resolve.

Processed PDF:

1. Somehow "Contents" shows up in the Table of Contents. A ToC should
include a reference to itself, right? Anyway I'm using the normal
\tableofcontents command.

2. Another issue I'm having is that I don't want to sections to be
numbered. I'm using the \setsecnumdepth{chapter} command to suppress
that, but somehow that's failing.

3. I'd like to the ToC to _not_ display the section numbers as well.
So instead of

1 Chapter 1
1.1 Section . . . . 2
1.2 Section . . . . 3

I want:

Chapter 1
Section . . . . . 2
Section . . . . . 3

How could I archive this?

Regards,
Pascal

use \tableofcontents*

\secnumdepth{chapter}
\maxnumdepth{chapter}

No, I don't understand the logic either

automatic when there are no numbers on the sections
