[cut]

This sounds like a great class. I know it can't be bad because it's
related to HA-prosper :-) However, what isn't clear to me is what I get in
powerdot that I don't get in beamer. Do the authors want to say
anything about this? (If this is covered in the docs, I'm sorry for
wasting your time.)

Regards,
Hans

Looks like it is in xcolor. But how to proceed?

Thanks. It worked.

(However, I couldn't see any particulars in the examples. That is,
things that are better than other environments.)

New CTAN package: powerdot - a presentation class

Post by Mark Fishe » Tue, 06 Sep 2005 10:03:49

I have installed powerdot. I am using MikTeX with WinEdt. When I TeXify
either of the two examples and YAP opens, it says it's building fonts
and then I get the following message:

"Not all fonts could be loaded."

There is no text visible in the viewer.

Under File->Document Properties I find
"cmex10 >>> not loadable - Double-click to see details"

!Missing `:' has been inserted
!This can't happen (copy)

...

Loading 'cmr10' instead.
'cmr10' not loadable either!

If I TeXify a second time without closing YAP, I get the message

"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another
process."

However, if I use the "dvi -> pdf button, then I get a pdf that seems
fine. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or what my setup is missing?

The short answer is: wait until tomorrow (US Eastern).

The long answer is that the directory pages are generated batch; that
is, not on the fly. When I install a package I run the batch by hand
usually, but when one of the other two core nodes installs a package
then it doesn't get done until the nightly update. Sorry; these things
take (me, at least) a long time to feel that they are solid enough to
run regularly. (Meaning, running the batch job as part of the install
process.)

Read
< http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ;
It's not related to powerdot, and it's very easy to fix. It happens
because Yap runs MetaPost to generate pk fonts for cmex10.

This wil go away when fix the "This can't happen"-problem.

Yes, because when making the pdf you don't have to run MetaPost on cmex10
to generate pk-files.
