save settings when moving to new HD

I recently purchased a new HD for my comp and wanted to transfer my
winXP pro installation to the new drive so I could then give my old
hard drive to a friend. I set up the first few partitions in the same
order to preserve any path name settings and tried to directly copy
everything from the old drive to the new. After repairing the MBR I
was able to boot into XP and everything seemed to be working except
all my ZoneAlarm settings were lost as were my taskbar settings.
Minor problems but I wanted to know if I could expect more nuisances
or possibly bigger problems in the future before i reformat and wipe
the old hd. Would it be worth it to purchase a program such as Norton
Ghost and would it be a problem if the partitions were of different
sizes than the original?

TIA,
Mike

Norton Ghost should do a good job for you...
and it can handle the partitions being different sizes...
just follow the instructions carefully
