Getting reference of eclipse plugin view or its component from another eclipse plugin view?

Post by Jimm » Sat, 17 Mar 2007 08:05:12

How can an eclipse view get a reference of another view (e.g. view's
action)?
I've extended the "ViewPart" which contained a "TreeViewer" and tried
the following sample from the URL ...

http://www.yqcomputer.com/ %3F

However, "((IStructuredSelection) selection).getFirstElement()" gives
me the "Tree" but not the action button that I pressed. I know it may
be ugly to get a reference of another view/page ... so if you eclipse-
plugin-experts out there have a clue, please offer some pointers.

Thanks,
Jimmy

1. Deploying eclipse plugin cleared everything in eclipse - project references in package explorer etc.

2. Authoring Eclipse plugins. Actions and views help.

I'm new to how to work with actions and views as related to writing
Eclipse plugins using SWT and JFace.

What I am attempting to do is have a tree that creates/updates a view
when a leaf is selected.

I've been experimenting with code and I've gotten a view to show up on
the first click of a leaf, but it doesn't update the data on subsequent
clicks of other leaves.

I'm experienced in Java, but totally new to GUI work. Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
