Do I need seesions here?

php newbie question

I have a small website based on php/mysql.
Users access it with a username and password thus their id is established
and subsequent access to data depends on their id.

Is there any reason for me to be using sessions?

Unless you want to require the user to enter their name and password on
each page, using sessions is the usual way most sites maintain a user's
authentication status between pages.

This is an excellent tutorial on the subject:

uhm YES.
http is a stateless protocol. Sessions are needed for any kind of state
or sessions.

Tracking a users browser session is what you are trying to accomplish

Good Luck
