Outlook 2000: Problem importing a 2003 PST saved as 97 to 2000

Thanks Brian and Milly...

Brian, I created a new Data File in Outlook 2003, and saved it to the server
rather than the local Outlook folder. I presume this is different to "EXPORT"?

Milly & Brian:

Can you describe "best practice" for Outlook, or point me to some useful
links?

Could you describe the correct way to connect to a PST: is it Tools >>>
Options >>> Mail setup >>> data files?

How about Backup... Is this different to Import/Export? Should I just copy
the PST from the Outlook folder to another location?

Export means using File>Import and Export. It doesn't matter where the
resultant file goes.

Best practice for what operation?

File>Open>Outlook Data File

Backup means nothing more than making another copy of your PST for
safekeeping by some means, without actually specifying those means.
Exporting is not the best way because information can be lost in the export
process. Yes, just copy the PST to another location, making sure Outlook is
closed when you do. The tool PFBACKUP from Microsoft can help automate this
process to a degree.
