I went on vacation and everything was fine. Now upon my return Outlook 2003
is taking several minutes to start up or not at all? Also, overall my entire
computer is running noticeably slower???

Aloha kimber67,

Do you have anti-virus/anti-spyware software installed? Is it updated?
Do you have all the most recent Microsoft patches installed?

Hard to tell with this little info. Could be a lot of things like
installing/downloading updates, a virus scanner, search indexing just to
name a few...

Sorry for not giving enough info. I am running Norton's virus protection. I
believe that I have all the most recent updates as well.

As I said everything was fine upon my initial start up and receiving of 100+
e-mails messages, the majority of which were deleted. I noticed a problem
when trying to Hot Synch my Palm, it just kind of hung there for a while and
not sure if it actually completed or not. Got some sort some of message box
that popped up saying that the other required program was busy or not found
??, and I ultimately had to cancel.

After I exited/reentered Outlook, it took a good while for it to come up and
is acting "funny, if you catch my drift, lol. I think we had a power outage
while we were away, but I had completely shut down everything (?)

Thought....

I suggest that you do a control/Alt/Delete and go to processes and see what
is using all the CPU

I did that and these have the highest usage numbers:

IEXPLORE.EXE 34,000

CCAPP.EXE 35,000

svchost.exe 32,000

What about CPU. The things with the highest CPU usage will slow other
processes.

Receiving 100+ takes a while, synching it to your Palm as well. Sounds like
the synching application timed out.

What is the size of your pst-file? Have you ran scanpst.exe against it
already to check it for errors?
