AS 4.1 won't recognize any device

Take a look on the device's Activesync interface and confirm that the
"when cradled" is checked and shows 'usb'

AS 4.1 won't recognize any device

Post by Paulo Reic » Wed, 23 Nov 2005 21:02:50

Hello there,

Obviously my device was set to synchronize through USB.

I have actually tried a lot of things, including uninstalling and
reinstalling AS. In the end, the problem was that the network connection
created by AS to the mobile device was being created without TCP/IP
enabled. After enabling it, AS is working fine.

Hi,
Did you have any other network adapters in the PC before installing
ActiveSync 4.1?

AS 4.1 won't recognize any device

Post by Paulo Reic » Thu, 24 Nov 2005 06:12:46

Hello there,

Yes, that's one of my laptops and it has several network adapters (lan, wi-
fi, bluetooth pan, firewire). Over the weekend I will try to install AS 4.1
on another laptop with pretty much the same settings. I will then report
back on my findings.

AS 4.1 won't recognize any device

Post by Carl Wolz » Thu, 24 Nov 2005 10:38:10

With ActiveSync 4.1, the RNDIS driver only binds to the IPV4 and IPV6
protocols. I have seen where a VPN software will uncheck the TCP/IP
check-box, because its NDIS IM driver finds out that there exists a miniport
driver which does not bind to it but bypasses it

Sorry, a lot of techno babble, just FYI What VPN/Firewall software are you
running??

Good point, I actually forgot the VPN software. I have other than the
default Win XP SP2 firewall, the CheckPoint VPN client installed. It may be
the problem then.
