Post by YnJpYW4uYn » Fri, 13 Jul 2007 11:44:00

an anyone help with this? I installed WMDC 6.1 the other day to work with my
PPC6800 Mogul from Sprint. It took a while but I finally got it working and
syncing just fine yesterday.

Today it will not sync. It will connect and I can browse the device, but it
will not sync with outlook. Please help! Error details below, with log files.

Here is the error I get when I try to sync up: "Windows Mobile Device Center

WMDC 6.1 Sync Fails - Can connect to device, cannot sync

Post by Steve Spil » Sat, 14 Jul 2007 00:32:55

o you have any 3rd party sync modules (SSPs) installed? Crashes in
WmdHost.exe are caused by problems with sync engines. We have seen this
mostly with 3rd party sync modules that haven't been updated for Vista yet.

Also, when you get the crash, do you get the option to 'send the info to
Microsoft'? If so, please do so. My team gets those reports and they
contain the information we need to find out what causes the crash.

WMDC 6.1 Sync Fails - Can connect to device, cannot sync

Post by YnJpYW4uYn » Sat, 14 Jul 2007 01:06:01

Steve,

I do not think I have any 3rd party sync modules. I did not install any, do
you know of a way that I could check for sure?

No, when it crashes I do not get the 'Send this to MS'. All I get is 'Check
for a solution online' , 'Close this program', 'Debug the program'. When I
click check for a solution online it seems like it is checking and then
closes.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate your willingness to work with me on this.

h, ok, so it sounds like you have a debugger installed. In that case you
can choose to 'debug' and send me the stack traces and/or a dump file and
that would help us figure it out.

Also, if you go into the sync settings of WMDC you'll see the sync modules
that are installed, like email, contacts, calendar, etc.

teve,

Forgive me for being ignorant but I do not see how to do this?

Where are sync settings located?

Below is the lengthy output from choosing to debug the application.

When I choose to Debug, this is the first message that pops up:

Windows has triggered a breakpoint in WmdHost.exe.

This may be due to a corruption of the heap, and indicates a bug in
WmdHost.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded.

The output window may have more diagnostic information

Then I click "Break" and then this:

WMDC 6.1 Sync Fails - Can connect to device, cannot sync

Post by samuel.dem » Wed, 18 Jul 2007 20:00:13

Hello,

Found this discussion very interesting, as I am experiencing the same
problem here: able to browse the SmartPhone connected to my PC, but
unable to sync correctly...

To answer the previously asked questions about 3rd party sync systems,
same here: I do not think I have any 3rd party sync modules. And when
it crashes, all I get is 'Check for a solution online' , 'Close this
program', 'Debug the program' as well.

I've already found some elements to fix the problem, but... none of
them have helped!

First thing, should a 'Microsoft Windows Mobile 'Remote Adapter'
appear in the Device Manager when the smartphone is connected?

Second thing, I noticed on the PC that curiously, Network Discovery
was turned off since the installation of VMware 6.0 and the 2 virtual
network adapters. I switched back to a private network, which
reactivated the network discovery, but it didn't have any impact.

Here's what is displayed in the Problem Reports and Solutions section:

hanks for the report. The Watson bucket ID is one of the most valuable
pieces of information that can be provided. With that we can the crash-dump
file uploaded after the program crashes which contains what we need to debug
the problem in the state it was in at the time of the crash.

I'll reply to this thread with what we find.

Steve,
May I also add my voice to the quest for a solution. I have also undertaken
all the debugging and solution searches that Vista Business suggests I do
with no success.
Let me know what to do or send to you to help.

India. They just gave run around for nothing. Microsoft knows they have this
problem but I don't if anybody is working on it.

had same thing happened to me. I have spent hours and hours for nothing
talking and emailing with Microsoft group out of India. They moved me from
one so called expert to another expert who just gave me round around.
Eventually they gave up and told me to settle with device manufacturer. Of
course, I did everything they told me to.
Is this Microsoft we know of? I am sure Microsoft already knows of this
problem and they are maybe working on it. I am certain it is problem in
Microsoft Mobile Device Center 6.1.
