Mobile 2005 & ActiveSync 4.0/4.1 = unable to copy/convert mdb to cdb file;

Greetings,

I have a Dell Axim x50 Mobile 2005 with the Mobile 2005 (Dell's A04 flash)
operating system, as well as an iPAQ rx1950 series Mobile 2005.

I cannot drag/drop a simple Microsoft Access 2003 database to instantiate
its "copy & convert" to convert it from the desktop's MDB format to the
Pocket PC's CDB format. I immediately get a Remote Procedure Call failed.

I have tested this on two Windows XP Pro desktop machines and a Windows
Server 2003 machine with all service packs installed.

Each of these work just fine with my Dell Axim x50v with Mobile 2003 on each
of the mentioned desktop environments.

I'm thinking there is a problem with the RAPI functionality of the Mobile
2005 devices.

Any comments very much appreciated.

Sincerely,

James

Hi,

The support for ADOCE was dropped in Windows Mobile 5. Therefore you will
not be able to convert the database files as in earlier version.

Hi,

With that being the case, what database is supported in Windows Mobile 5?
Could you transfer a small sql server database?

Hi,
Developers should look at SQL Server CE as a replacement. It is a small SQL
Server database engine that is available for Windows Mobile devices.
