Hi everyone.

I have one problem, i hope that somebody can help me. Well here we go.

Result that my Default First Storage Group and my default Public Folder
sotorages, cannot mount any more.

This happen when an antivirus damage my databases 2 databases and when i try
to restore simply the stores not mount, i have an Exchange 2003 whit windows
2003 enterprise versions boot.

When this happen, i cannot mount the default First Storage Group and the
default Public folders, so i proceed to create a new Mailbox Store, and
recreate the mailboxes of my users to can continue working, but cannot mount
and generate a new MAPI default system Public Folder i can create a second
public folder, but is not MAPI.

I want to know if exist one way to reset or remove or delete and regenerate
the default First Storage Group and the default Public Folder to start move
to my users to the default folders, becouse in this moment my users cannot
use Public Folders.

The thing that i wan it is find one way to reset this folders, their old
databases dont import, and i want to generate new ones to start move to my
users and stsrt using MAPI public folders.

I hope that some body can help me.

Many many thanks

If you cant mount the public store, you can always MOVE it and its
associated logs to another directory and remount it to create a new,
EMPTY store. Then you can restore everything from backup to that new,
empty store.

Hi Andy thanks for answer to my question.

I try to move it to another directory but can do it, because any time to try
to move, Exchange say me a message that say: There are users using this Store
and cannot move it, or delete. And when try to move the replication of the
publci folder to other nwe fresh installed server that part can do it, but
cannot delete or regenerate that Folder.

The second part that do it is generate a second public Folder but this is
not MAPI Folder, so my users cannot access via Outlook, i want to regenerate
this Public Folder to new one but Exchange not let me. Existe one way to try
to force the deletion of the Default First Storage Group and the Default
Public Folder to do this?

Thanks again Andy.

By moving it, I mean dismounting it and moving it ( dont delete it)
via Windows Explorer to another directory , not via ESM.

Then just move the pub1.edb and pub1.stm and remount the public store.
You have good backups all around yes?

ndy i Fix the problem.

The thing that make was:

First whit the both Stores Dismounting (as you say me) take the data bases
.edb and .stm and move it to anoter folder via Explorer.

Second move the e00, the chk file and the exx logs to anoter folder via
Explorer.

Then Try to mount again the 2 stores the First Store Gruop and the Public
Store, and Exchange mounting Successfully. Recibe one message that say me
that if i dont want to restore data Exchange generate a Empty database whit
no data.

Answer Choice: Yes
And by the w, the risk that losse mailboxes was null, because when delete
the e00, exx and chk files, exchange generate new ones whit no loss of data.

Exchange mount both stores whit empty databases, now i restore data whit a
full working backup

Andy many thanks
