If you have enough space to do this, use the exchange optimizer to move the
databases off the drives to another one temporally. after that do what you
need to do with the raid 5 set. After that use the performance optimizer to
move the data back to the raid drive.

JHill, that's certainly a valid and good way to do it, but not really
necessary.

Benno, the way that you were planning to do it should work just fine. I see
nothing wrong with it. Exchange does not keep track of anything related to
the databases and log files at anything lower than the drive letter level.
Given that all of the work will be done with the Exchange services down,
there should be no problem.
