Failed Mailbox Moves, Duplicate Mailboxes

Post by c2NoYWRlbm » Fri, 19 Dec 2008 01:49:01

Greetings
Running Exchange 2003 Sp2 on Windows 2003 sp1.
Last night I was moving several mailboxes from one store to another. At
about 2:00 am the move process died for some as yet undetermined reason,
(when I checked this morning the wizard had shutdown and the exchange task
wizard log contained no information just the xml headers)
Anyway, what I've wound up with is 4 of the mailboxes which were in the
process of being moved have mailboxes in both the target and the source
stores. The users are working normally in their mailboxes in the source
store. The mailboxes in the target store have items in them but not as many
as those in the source store
I'm just looking for suggestions as to a next step as I still need to move
these mailboxes. Assuming that I can verify that the homemdb is the correct
one (ie the source store) for these users, is it safe to remove the duplicate
mailboxes in the target store? If so how would I go about that. Or can I
just attempt to move those mailboxes again and hope it somehow overwrites the
duplicates.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks

thanks for the link, but I don't think this quite applies to my situation as
the mailbox move was not successful, the users still access their mailbox in
the source store and the mailbox in the target store does not show as
disconnected and neither has zero items in it, I'm hoping someone on here has
run into a similar situation and has had to deal with removing the duplicate
mailboxes and / or moving the live mailboxes again.
cheers

Did you try running mailbox cleanup on the target store?
