Exchange 2007: Certificate mismatch when opening Outlook 2007 and OOF wont work with Outlook 2007

Hi all,

Setup: Exch 2007 at head office and all mx records (compnayname.com) etc
point to that, my Exch 2007 is a branch office connected via hardware vpn to
headoffice. Initially installed using self issued cert but I have now
installed a GoDaddy cert for branch.companyname.com so that my users can
connect directly using OWA and Outlook Anywhere.

This works fine but now internal users with Outlook 2007 (NOT Outlook 2003)
get the following message when trying to use Out of Office:

"Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed because the server is
currently unavailable. try again later"

and also some of then get a Certificate Mismatch error when starting Outlook
2007 - It says it is connecting on internalname.local rather than
branch.companyname.com!!

Now OOF works fine from Outlook 2003 and from OWA but just not from Outlook
2007.

I do also have a split DNS entry so that branch.companyname.com resolves
internally so that iphone users can use the internal Wireless LAN.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

cheers

martin

That's what happens when you have a different DNS domain internally and
externally. You need a UCC-SAN certificate with both unless you have
something like an ISA server handling the external traffic.
