Exchange 2010 connection status from Outlook 2007

Exchange 2010 connection status from Outlook 2007

Post by Mike Bonvi » Fri, 20 Nov 2009 01:19:30

In my lab environment I have the following:

2 2008R2 domain controllers ( both GCs \2008 forest level)
1 Exchange 2010 server (HT\CA\MBX)

I removed the default self signed cert & replaced it with one from my CA,
applied to all services.

I have a WIN7 client using Outlook 2007 SP2, the profiles are created
automatically, no issues.
I uncheck cached mode (default) and start outlook, mailbox opens.

However when I CTRL+click on the tray icon, I see TCP\IP connections
(directory\mail) only connecting to the Exchange server only. I expect to
see directory connections to at least one of my DCs.

Why am I not making directory connections here?

Thanks,
Mike Bonvie

1. Developing for Outlook 2007/2010 on a computer with Outlook 2010

2. Outlook 2003/2007/2010 programming with Visual Studio 2010

We are investigating using Visual Studio 2010 for developing Outlook
addins.

It appears that VS 2010 cannot be used to develop addins for Outlook
2003 as mentioned in the link below:
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Is this true?

At this stage we are thinking of creating the addins as Shared Addins
instead of using VSTO.

Would appreciate any guidance from people already using Visual Studio
2010 for developing Outlook addins that support Outlook 2003, 2007 and
2010.

Thanks
