How to set days in a month to equal a real calendar month

Is it possible to set the number of days in a month equal to 1 actual
calender month? So if one item is set to 9/15 and I constrain another item
to be 1 month later it will be set to 10/15? Is this possible?

Hello MS,

Yes, you can. You will establish a finish to start relationship first, then
add a lag amount to force a delay. First, you will need to link your two
tasks together, task 1 and 2. Go to the task information dialogue box for
task two, then the predecessors tab. You will see task 1 listed. You will
also see a field called lag. Enter 20 days. This means upon the completion
of task 1, 20 working days later, you will begin task 2.

This is the short answer. Remember to use a FS relationship; lead/lag is
all based on your working calendar.

I hope this helps.

Sara,

Thanks for the Response. However that only gives me the 20 day delay, not
exactly a month. The problem is every month has a different number of days.
I would like it to come out just as if I was looking at a calendar. 1 month
would be 1 exact month, either 30, 31, or 28 calendar days, rather than 20
working days ( depending on the month).

Hi MS,

Unfortunately, I do not believe their is a true calender formula...I'm sure
an excel expert could write a formula for a custom field and then have a
macro import the entry into the lag field. However, date calculations have
based on the generic months/days/hours as expressed in your Options.

May be someone will have an answer. Good luck.

Are these items similar or different? If similar (i.e. a status report that
is due the same day of each month), then you could set them up as recurring
tasks and set the start date using the available options.

Tim,

They are similar in nature, but different in both details and time. Some
are two months apart, others are 4 - 6 months apart.

Duration always refer to working time only. IF you want something to go by
the regular wall calendar, used elapsed time. So enter a 1 month lag time
as "30 eday".
