to do this?

What is an XML object control (or "web control" as your subject says)?
Are you using ASP.NET and are trying to create a control in ASP.NET?
Then an ASP.NET group might be able to help better.
If you are using JavaScript in the browser then please explain in more
detail what an XML object control is? Are you using the IE/Win only HTML
extension <xml> element to embed XML data in an HTML page?

I am trying to create an IE 6.XML object control. As you stated, the win
only <xml> element is what I am trying to create. I tried using
document.createElement("<xml>"), but it does not seem to work, at least it
appears that it is not working. I basically want to create an xml element
on the fly and copy the recordset from an existing xml element to the one
that I created. Is this possible?

I do not use XML data islands myself but I have tried creating one
dynamically and binding it to a table and that works for me with IE 6:

Thanks for the info. It was helpful.

Is there anyway that I can copy the xml recordset data from one xml element
to another? I have tried using:

xml1.recordset = xml2.recordset

I get a javascript runtime error.

Ken,

have you tried these variations?

document.createElement("xml")

or document.createElement("<xml />")

Ken,

You are dealing with objects here...not simple VARs

Try these:

xml1.load (xml2);

xml1.loadXML(xml2.xml);

set xml1 = xml2.documentElement;

Thanks! You have been a tremendous help.

xml1.load(xml2) worked great.
