Difference b/w databases of WSS and SPS

Post by RXNzY » Thu, 18 May 2006 22:32:01

Hi;

When we installed WSS, it created a config database i.e. sts_config and when
we installed it also created a config database i.e. sps_config.

Are both these databases different?
Can we select WSS database i.e. sts_config for the SPS database when it
prompts to select the config database?

Can I have a document or link which explains these two database models?

Thanks

The two databases are different. For the SPS config database it keeps tabs
on the farm topology such as who is an Index server and who is the search
server etc. Although you can call the config database anything you like it
is a different config dbase to the WSS one so I would not use your WSS one.
