SharePoint neatly imports contacts from the Exchange server's global address list.
We would like to link to these contacts from document libraries.
e.g. In the LAN Support document library, we might want to link to the person who is the support contact for the LAN in Paris.
The only way I can see how to do that is to create a re-direct from the document library to the appropriate record in the SharePoint Contact list. Is there a slicker way to do this?
However, when contact details change in Exchange server (phone numbers, site addresses etc), I can't see a way of synching those new details with the SharePoint Contacts. Furthermore, if we import the updated record from Exchange, a brand new record will be created in the SharePoint contacts list and my re-direct will be broken - and will require updating.
Ultimately, I see the SharePoint Contacts list become outdated over time, unless someone is constantly monitoring changes. My client has thousands of users so this will not be feasible.
Any advice would appreciated.
