Problems with SharePoint event sink using MSDN article example

I'm trying to work with events in Windows SharePoint Services. I've been
using the following article written by Nigel Bridport
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

I've been running into problems and have been trying to isolate the cause.
From my experimentation I've only been able to get the eventsink to work on
a VMWare virtual machine domain controller running WSS and SharePoint Portal
Server 2003 running SQL 2000. It will not work on a virtual machine W2003
member server (the same image the domain controller was built from) not
attached to a domain. I've tried the same image with either full SQL2000 or
the default MSDE installation without success. There are no error event
logs that would help me isolate the cause.

I'm not sure if not being a member of a domain causes the eventsink not to
work or if there are some permission issues that are different between
ASP.Net, WSS and SQL that I'm not aware of that would affect the example.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks
Tim

I would suggest updating the code to put some more looging in using
EventLog.Wri *** try(...) to see if the event cod eis even being executed.
Make sure that Events can be raised on the server.

Also, you need to have the server as a member of a domain.

Nigel.

In addition, you can attach to the W3WP process if you are developing
on the Portal server itself, and step through the code. The first
step would be to log your errors though, as above.
