Remove Menu or Menu Item From Web Part

Post by WmlhZ » Fri, 02 Dec 2005 15:12:02

Hello,

How can I remove the WP menu for regular users of the site (ie, the
one on the right which shows a 'Help' link when clicking the down arrow, not
the site's help link found on the top right of the page)?
Alternatively, how can I remove the 'Help' link from the WP menu?

Thanks,

Ziad

Hi Ziad,
In the Tool Panel of the WebPart, you need to clean the field "Help Link"
under the "Advanced" section. If the field is empty, you will not have a
"Help" option in the menu. Attention: In the Portal it doesn't work for
WebParts of Lists (Events, for example).

Thanks for your answer Gustavo.
I had tried this on a list web part, but (as you mention) it didn't work so
I assumed it wouldn't work on other web parts.
Is there a workaround/solution to this issue for the list web parts?

Hello Gustavo , Ziad

Few weeks ago i was looking for modify some menu items from a list and found
this nice blog post:
https://blogs.msdn.com/jessicagruber/archive/2005/07/27/Custom_Menus_in_SharePoint.aspx

I know, i know, is not exactly what are you looking for, but, gives a nice
explanation how menu works, contexts, listbasetypes, etc...
Maybe, it posible modify the definition in the Javascript file to change
the "help" behavior.
Hope this helps.
