ODBC Connection to WSS to access MS Access 2002 database

Post by jeanne » Tue, 03 Feb 2004 05:46:09

I am trying to connect an Access database to WSS.
I have made an ODBC connection, but have been unable to add the
connection to the datasource catalog. I can not bring up any of my
odbc connections, although I can connect to my SQL server and see
those databases.

I have an existing database that I want to expose. I have tried to
connect via the link to access table, but I have been unable to
connect to an existing table it always creates a new table based on
the WSS list.

Any suggestions would be great.

Open access 2003, then open a database, choose type Windows SharePoint
List... browse to your WSS site, the list and the view... viola... you can
create links to every list and run reports and many other things... trick is
always create a view that has all data (every bit... includeing ID and
modify and what not)

This is far better than trying to access the WSS SQL server... it's not
arranged for direct access...
