SMS Clients Installed but appear in SMS Console as not Installed

Post by SmFtaW » Tue, 09 Nov 2004 19:08:05

I installed SMS 2003 primary site on a 2003 server, and used client push
installation wizard to deploy SMS clients.
I have about 2000 desktop machines some are NT4 while others are 2000 pro
and XP. i copnfigured client push installation to be OS dependent.
after trying the wizard on all my machines (i grouped them in collections)
SMS client is installed on around 1000 machines and behaves like normal,
while for the other 1000 machines SMS cosole shows the client not installed,
when i checked those clients i found the client is installed !? and i noticed
that the remote control service is not running on those clients while it is
installed on the normal machines, i have this problem for both legacy and
advanced clients.

so please any one has an idea about this problem ???

Is there anything different about the machines not reporting? Different
domain, only legacy clients?
Do they show as assigned in the admin console? If they show as assigned on
the advanced clients check the following logs.
ccmexec.log, clientlocation.log, and locationservices.log.
On your legacy clients check the ccim32.log for any errors.
