advanced client install success, but console says client not installed

Post by zatc » Mon, 01 Dec 2003 17:32:45

I can do a client push on systems that are discovered. The advanced
client does actually install, and I know that because if I go log onto
those machines, the SMS control panel access is there, and all the
components are installed. It is correctly pointed to my site.

But none of the machines with the client installed are reported as
actually having the client installed! I can do an update collection
membership, refresh, and it still says the client isn't installed.
Hence, they won't take the adverti *** ts, etc.

I'm using the NT\SYSTEM account for client installs.

If you have any thoughts, questions, or answers, I will be greatly
appreciative.

I have the exakt same problem!

We have pushed the client out to about 80 servers but only
the ones in the same subnet as the sms-server shows up as
clients (and yes, we have correct bounderies) but the
client installs just fines if we look at the servers.

Did you add an SLP site definition in WINS? That solved my problem of
Advanced Clients not registering with the SMS Site.

I am having similar problems... Check the LocationServices.log file on the
client machines, its located in winnt\system32\ccm\logs, look for any
unusual erros and such.. I posted the details of my problem here if you want
to look up what I found in my locationservices.log file.

Hi,
In order to correctly install the Advanced Client, we need to have an
Advanced Client network access account defined for the site. Since the
Advanced Client is installed with the System context, it is unable to
access the components on the network and requires an account that has this
access to be able to load the components from a network location.

Check to see that this account exists in the site under Site Settings |
Component Configuration | Software Distribution | Advanced Client Network
Access account. If not, add an account that has the required access.

Best regards,
Mark
