Hi
I wounder what the difference is between the programs SQL Server 2005
Enterprise Edition and SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition? And I wounder if
the book "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for Dummies with CDROM"
is good for me to learn about SQL Server 2005.
I don't understand why the book's name is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express
Edition, is that another program?

Thanks

Fia

Yes....SQL Server 2005 is another edition.
The following link is a feature comparison between the
different editions:
http://www.yqcomputer.com/
Developer edition isn't listed but it supports the same
functionality as the Enterprise Edition. It's licensed
differently and can only be used in development, not for use
in production.
A quick listing and very brief overview of all the editions
is listed on this site with links to detailed information
for each edition:

If you are just wanting to learn SQL Server 2005, the
express or developer's edition will work. Which to use
depends on what you plan to use going forward, if you need
to work with the Enterprise features you'd want the
developer edition. The cost is minimal. If you just want the
basics, you could go with Express - it's free.

Hi,

SQL Server Express edition is free edition of SQL Server 2005. This version
has got lots of limitations and as far as TSQL is concerened
it is identical to other editions like enterprise and Standard. So for
initial study you could purchase the book with CD and go ahead.
FYI, SQL Express can be downloaded free from microsoft website.

Now the difference between enterprisee and developer edition. Both the
editions are same in functionality and the only difference
is in licensing policies. FYI, you are not supposed to use developer edition
for prodcution.

See the licensing info of developer edition.
