How to take a backup or copy only few tables on a CD ?

Post by news.veriz » Fri, 28 Nov 2003 05:44:26

I have 2 separate sql2k. There are not connected to each other because they
are about 20 miles apart.

I need to copy about 5 tables from one server and copy it back to 2nd
server.

Is there anyway that I can backup only selected tables ?

Appreciate if someone please repond.

Your options for keeping the databases synchronized would be a lot better if
the servers were on the same network. You could use DTS or bulk copy
(BCP.EXE) to export the files to cd-rom or just FTP them where needed.

You can transfer them on a new database. Or export them to text.
You can create a new filegroup for your database, move those 5 tables to the
new filegroup and backup the new filegroup.

I have an SQL database on a host server and a copy on a local server.
The host server is registered on my local server.
Every day I run a DTS package copying the whole database (objects and data)
from the host to the local server.
I could limit the copy to objects only, data only or selected objects and/or
data.
If you can register one server from the other one, you can do your copy
(even schedule it).
If you can't, the other answers you got will have to suffice.
