Exchange 2007 with Outlook 2003 Public Folders

Exchange 2007 with Outlook 2003 Public Folders

I hope I can ask this question correctly.
I will be transitioning from Exchange 2003 to E2k7. I have a mix of Outlook
2003 and 2007 clients. I do not currently use Public Folders much at all and
would prefer to not use them in E2k7 since they are not really supported.
However...
I was told Outlook 2003 clients would not be able to view Calendar Free/Busy
information from a E2k7 server is the Public Folders were not in use. Is
this true? Am I misunderstanding what is going on here?

I guess the question is - If I have no Public Folders at all in my E2k7
deployment, will my Outlook 2003 clients still be able to schedule meetings
and view Free/Busy data?

Thanks.

See below.

Yes, you're correct. Outlook versions prior to 2007 need a Public Folder
store for Free/Busy data.

No. You have to keep a PF store around. See
