VB6 .exe app error opening .MDB from one of many installs.

I'm getting the error:

"The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open file \\Xpws03\C:\Test.mdb.
It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to
view its data."

I'm receiving this error in one PC running XP Pro, of five other PCs
running a mix of XP Pro,Win2K pro, and one Win2K Server even. . The .MDB(2K
format) can be remotely opened using Access 2003 in the problem PC, with
full read/write/modify control. The .MDB is set to open in Shared mode, no
other users are connected.

The .MDB file has its Attrib set to -R now, that solved the problem of
opening it from Access.

What could be a different in the one XP Pro pc?

Any suggestions appreciated.

to
.MDB(2K
no

Well, it appears you have already been over the usual suspects. But it is
still possible one of them is the problem, so go back.
1) The user must have full control over the folder that contains the mdb
file. (Read/Write/Delete/Exec).
2) There can't be an .ldb file stuck up there from another process.
3) Another process might have a hold of the file, or failed to release its
hold on exit. It can sometimes happen that more than one connection is
opened or there has been a failed attempt.
4) Something fishy with the wire (network) - 'Shared' sometimes actually
causes problems.

Keep looking - one of those will be the problem 99% of the time.

Full control... I've been fighting the Read Only" issue on my host's
folder, but what made the MDB accessible was finally giving all permissions
to the .MDB file itself. But the other PCs, without problems, worked fine
before that.

Could the network problem be on the MDB host PC or on the PC with the error?
I just found the firewall ON, on the MDB host PC, now its off. No change
though.

Resolved
I disabled simple sharing, and re-enabled all permissions, and... I did
suspect
something like this but...
