The best practice is to keep all your Exchange 2003 servers INSIDE your
network. There is so much communication, authentication etc that has to
happen on the domain that it is best to keep it all internal and then use an
application level firewall such as ISA to publish OWA.
The best place to get more info is:
Exchange 2003 will run on either Windows2000 or Windows2003.
If you install on Windows2000, you are going to have IIS 5.0
If you install on Windows2003, you are going to have IIS 6.0
