Check DNS. Can you resolve the FQDN of the 5.5 server from the W2003
Server? 5.5 server pointing at the correct DNS server?

Thanks for your reply, Andy.

Yes and yes. I rebooted the server and started the wizard
again and now I have the other message I mentioned below.
It now says "The directory property cannot be found in the
cache." I don't know why it changes from the one message
to this one after a reboot, and then later changes back,
but there you go.

Maybe time to start doing some network tests ( nltest etc..)
Check out your GCs etc....Latest Service Packs, Event logs, setup logs
etc....

Sounds like fun!

ell, unfortunately, in my tests with e2003 migrations from 5.5 , I
have not encountered the issues you have found.
Is there more you can give us? Specific error messages and IDs from
the event logs?
Perhaps someone else here as seen this issue if you could provide more
detail.
One thing you havent mentioned is the make-up of your AD network. Are
they Windows 2003 DCs or Windows 2000 DCs? SP levels on Windows and
Exch etc
Are your GCs 2000 or 2003 servers?
More information may give us here more to work on and help you out.
