Looking batch file statement to stop service, start backup and then start service

I don't know what the service name would be as I have never used
Exchange, but the command to start & stop services are

NET STOP <service-name>
NET START <service-name>

Have a look in windows help on those topics for more info. Also I can
fully recommend the O'Reilly "Windows 2000 Command Pocket Reference"
(only cost a few pound online).

If you do a full online backup of the store, there is no need to stop
the services.
NTBACKUP will allow you to do this easily by selecting the information
store and directory. If you are running your backups remotely, you can
add the ability to backup your store by simply installing the Exch
Admin to your backup server. YOu will then see the dir and info store
in NTBACKUP as selections.
