VS 2005 doesn't start up after installing VS 2005 SP1

Post by Osca » Wed, 04 Oct 2006 23:56:09

I've installed Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 upon my Visual Studio 2005
Professional.
After this I am not able to start VS 2005 anymore. It reports C:\Program
Files\....IDE|\devenv.exe . The application can not start because of a
wrong configuration.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

You mean Service Pack 1 beta I presume? Uninstall it and log the bug at

Hi Andrew,

yes, I meant SP1 beta.

How I can I uninstall it ? There is no registration of the SP1 beta setup
within configuration/software at all and also no deinstall program.
I've registrated myself at microsoft connect and am waiting to be accepted.

regards,
Oscar

Have you got the show updates checkbox set in Add/Remove Programs? I
think it shows up as an update.

You go back to the day before you installed the SP1. Help and Support,
System Restore, then pick a date. Assuming you have this feature turned on
in XP. Again assuming you are running XP. Saved me a few times.

Robert

As David said it appears as an update, you have to tick the option to see
those in Add/Remove Programs. That said, how did you get hold of it if
you're still waiting to be accepted for the beta program?
