Visual Studio Professional Edition + Visual C# Express

Post by Harry John » Tue, 17 Apr 2007 12:14:07

Hi,

We have Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition installed in our teaching labs.
One of the lecturers wants XNA Game Studio Express which requires Visual C#
2005 Express Edition.

Does anyone have any experience with using VS2005 Professional Edition and VC#
2005 Express Edition on the same machine? Anything I need to watch out for?

Harry.

What can you do in C# Express that you can't do in VS2005 ?

Erm... I'd have said "absolutely nothing" because VS2005 Pro is a superset
of c#2005 (express or otherwise).

It's likely (although I have not checked this) that the original requirements
did not require c# express edition but rather a minimum of c# express edition.

They run side-by-side with no conflicts.

It requires Express edition. (Sucks, don't it?)

Thanks. The XNA documentation appeared to imply as much, but it's surprising to
me; I'd have expected them to be incompatible.
