Thanks but I have no journal file and I have not enabled multible checkouts.

error invalid DoS path <path to database> while i was adding or cheching
in/out the files from client machines. Later i browsed the path on server
and found that the error was caused as i had enabled multiple checkouts and
by mistake deleted the file that was specified in " Log all actions to
journal file" {Admin>Sourcesafe>options>General tab}
something that u missed till now. Since i am new to VSS i cannot say if
this will work or not but there is no harm in trying

Look for other paths and filenames that are specified in your ss.ini and the
srcsafe.ini file. Maybe there's something there that can't be found. A
shadow folder, perhaps (although I don't think these are used during add).
