Error opening project from Source Ctrl w/in VS.Net IDE

Post by UGFjbWF » Sun, 06 Feb 2005 03:07:01

I have Win2k03Srvr, VS.Net 03, VSS 6 (vss ini file is on other server),
Frmwrk 1.1

I open VS.Net >> File >> Src Ctrl >> Open from Src Ctrl. Then you get an
error: Title Bar says "Source Control" err msg is "There was a failure while
initializing the Microsoft Visual SourceSafe source control provider. You
cannot use this provider to perform source control operations."

I recently set up this box with 2k03 srvr, prev I had XP and was able to
Open From Src Ctrl no problem.

Am I going to have to install a SCC Server on this server? Is it a config
issue? Bindings issue?

What is going on? Please help. What should I try?

Also, I cannot create a new project and add it to source control. As soon as
I try any option from the File >> Source Control area i get this message (see
prev post.)

I cannot add existing project to Src Ctrl either. Is it something to do with
the way I installed VSS on this server? The ini file resides on a W2k03
server as well.

Try running ssint.exe. It's in SourceSafe's win32 folder.
